SHOW DESCRIPTION: Unang Hirit (literally First Response or First Strike in Filipino) is a Philippine morning news and talk show aired every weekday afternoon by GMA Network. The show airs on weekdays from 4:55 AM to 7:30 AM. It is also aired internationally thru GMA Pinoy TV at various times.
Unang Hirit was first aired on GMA on December 6, 1999, replacing Mornings @ GMA. Mornings' hosts Lyn Ching, Suzi Entrata, Ryan Agoncillo with new faces of Mickey Ferriols, Arnold Clavio, and Miriam Quiambao started the show as the original hosts pitting against ABS-CBN's Alas Singko Y Medya.
In 2001, GMA Regional TV began to air regional morning shows patterned from the national morning show itself through Buena Mano Balita of GMA Cebu. Later in 2007, it was followed by Arangkada of GMA Western Visayas (Iloilo and Bacolod stations) and Una Ka BAI of GMA Davao; and in 2009 with Primera Balita of GMA Dagupan. On April 24, 2015, as part of the streamlining of regional operations of GMA, the three regional morning shows were being cancelled without saying goodbyes for their final episodes, except for Primera Balita which was managed to bid farewell to the viewing public.
